The West End Library Friends is a 501c(3) committed to supporting a dynamic and revitalized branch that serves the current needs and expectations of the community, by supporting services and programs at the library and providing assistance to branch staff and patrons. The Friends was incorporated in 1990 as a non-profit organization. All dues and donations to the Friends are fully deductible. The Friends provide volunteer support for the branch and the library system in areas such as public awareness, advocacy, and community outreach. During the current membership year, the Friends have provided resources to the branch and the D. C. Public Library for various programs and activities, including: • Discover Summer, a summer reading program for all ages • Professor Ori Soltes Book Discussion Series • Children's Reading and Play Programs • Supporting the branch enrichment fund to help finance programs for branches that do not have community resources |
